Sho’t Kal is an Israeli version of the british Centurion Mk.5 tank, which was in the service of the Israel Defence Forces tank troops. These tanks proved themself during the Yom Kippur War, where less than 180 tanks stopped the attack of 1200 tanks in the 48 hours continuous battle in the Golan Heights. Unlike the original Centurion Mk.5, this modified vehicle received a new main armament consisting of the 105mm L7 gun and a more powerful air-cooled diesel engine. Based on combat use it was decided to make a further upgrade, which resulted in the Sho’t Kal Dalet version, which was used in the Lebanon War. The tank was equipped with a gun thermal sleeve and also the explosive reactive armour (ERA) Blazer package and smoke grenade dischargers, it was also able to fire HEAT-FS and APFSDS rounds. In addition to the coaxial 7.62 mm machine gun, Sho’t Kal Dalet is equipped with two 7.62 mm anti-aircraft MAG-58 machine guns, a single 12.7 mm machine gun and also a mortar for smoke grenades.
