Su-39 is an export version of the upgraded twin-engine turbojet single-seat Su-25TM attack aircraft. The attack aircraft is armed with a 30mm dual-barrel GSh-30-2 cannon. In terms of suspended weaponry, various options can be used, including: two "air-to-air" guided missiles R-60M, up to two "air-to-surface" guided missiles Kh-29L, up to four Kh-25ML or up to sixteen 9K127 Vikhr, unguided rockets S-24B, S-130F, S-8KO or S-25 in various modifications, ZB-500 incendiary bombs, KAB-500KR correctible air bombs and also 100, 250 and 500 kg bombs, 250 and 500 kg parachute retarded bombs. In addition, the Su-39 can carry up to four external gun pods with 23 mm GSh-23L cannons. Also, it is possible to install the container with a low-light TV Merkuriy pod system, which enables the use of weaponry in daytime or nighttime, but with a limited range, or Kopyo-25 radar pod. In terms of a countermeasure against radar guidance systems, the Su-39 is equipped with decoys and chaff.
