Originally the division was formed on November of 1918 in the state of Mississippi just before the end of World War I. The 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment was formed in 1942 at Camp Toccoa, Georgia. It saw action in the Normandy landings as part of part of the 101st Airborne Division.

The M1928A1 Thompson with a 100 round drum is a submachine gun made for the escalating war in Europe with an impressive magazine capacity. The significantly increased weight of the weapon ensures stability when firing in long bursts.

The division was formed near Amiens immediately after the Allied landings in Normandy. The formed units, as part of the 15th Army of Army Group "B", were immediately sent to the front to repel the Allied offensive.

The Krieghoff FG is an experimental model of a light multi-purpose firearm designed for use by airborne troops, presented for testing along with the FG 42.
