A unique version of the G.55 monoplane fighter - the Silurante torpedo bomber prototype, as it was designated, was a conversion of the Serie 1 variant, which traded its nose-mounted heavy machine guns for a torpedo pylon, capable of carrying a 987 kg torpedo, mounted on the underside of the fuselage, also was armed with three 20mm cannons.
