The M728 is a combat engineering vehicle, developed on the basis of the M60A1 tank in the mid 60s. After the successful completion of testing, the first units of the M728 quickly found themselves supporting troops in the field during the ongoing Vietnam War. There, the M728 was used to primarily destroy enemy fortifications and overcome barriers as well as assisting in engineering work in the field. The M728 is capable of reaching a maximum speed of over 50 km/h. The tank is armed with a modified version of the L9A1 gun - the 165 mm caliber M135 gun, with a coaxial 7.62 mm machine gun and also equipped with a 12.7 mm machine gun. The ammunition includes HESH shells. Additionally, the tank is equipped with a night vision device for the gunner, commander and the driver and also a smoke screen device.
